Andy Stanley Leadership Podcast Thoughts...

There are a few notes I jotted down from this talk:
*Everyone of us is emotionally attached in how we do ministry.
*Are we leaders or people pleaser's?
*The local church rarely gets serious about change until the money runs out?
*What is in decline? What are we manufacturing energy for?
*What assumptions do we have that are driving our decisions?
*Fall in love with the mission, be infatuated with your system.
*As culture changes so should our assumptions. Not our mission.

My thoughts:
It is difficult to really evaluate a lot of our systems based on the lack of programs and the length in which we have been a church. I think many of these questions will be better next summer as we take a look back and look for area of improvement and overhaul.

I like their willingness to confront redundancy in efforts to combat having stuff on the calender. 7:22 and kidstuff are big things in NorthPoint.

We have to be daring in our mission while at the same time be committed to doing the leg work to build the necessary momentum. Jim Collins in Good to Great calls is The Flywheel. The effort we are putting in today (if attached in the mission properly) will build momentum for the future.

Questions to respond to:
1. Where are we currently building momentum that you believe will have a positive effect tomorrow?

2. Is there already something in decline in our church that we need to address? Secondly, are we manufacturing energy anywhere?

3. Do you have any additional thoughts about the podcast?

Some Adjustments to the Blog

1. I added you guys to the authors on this blog. I am not sure exactly how that will work but we will see. What I hope this does is create an online conversation with us about leadership, Merge and you. Feel free to post a blog with an item you would like to discuss. We will work it through together.

2. I am wanting to start reading a leadership book together starting the first week of October. I haven't gone through Next Generation Leader lately and it's probably time for a refresher course. Will that work with you guys?

3. Andy Stanley has a new leadership podcast. You need to subscribe to it and give it a listen. Next week I am going to post a few questions from this months podcast.

The best way I know to have a growing church is by having a growing staff. That means us:)

All Right Sport Fans...

I finally set up a blog for us to attempt some staff growth stuff.
This is a test posting.

Leave me a comment to make sure we can start communicating this way.
